Conflict diamonds also known as Blood Diamonds are diamonds which are traded to fund the illegal and unlawful rebel and military actions against the legitimate governments. The countries which are most affected by the Blood Diamonds are Sierra Leone, Angola, Liberia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, in all these countries the people are threaten and killed to control the local diamond trade. Joulediamonds.co.uk has always maintained a zero tolerance policy regarding Conflict Diamonds.
In order to control and police the movement and flow of Blood Diamonds, the United Nations has implemented a resolution to extend its support to the Kimberley Process (KP). This is now a joint program between many operational members like various International administrative bodies, national governments, including the United Sates, industries worldwide and civil societies.
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) was introduced by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution to certify that the sources of ‘rough diamonds’ are from conflict free zone. This certification ensures that the Blood Diamonds do not enter the rough diamond market. 99.8% of the global productions of rough diamonds can be accounted to the members of Kimberley Process and KPCS has 49 members represented by 75 countries as of December 2009. All the US diamond retailers have been notified by the United States Congress in 2003 to obtain diamonds from only those manufacturers who have the documents to prove that the diamonds are from conflict free zone.
Joulediamonds.co.uk sources its diamonds from the most reputed and acknowledged suppliers, who like us also, strictly implement the policy of Kimberley Process. In case the supplier is unable to provide with documents we immediately stop all business deals with the supplier.
